Hold onto your scoops, horror fans! Eli Roth, the mastermind behind the Thanksgiving slasher, is back with a chilling new project: Ice Cream Man. This one promises to be a sundae of scares!
It's been a long road for Roth. Remember the faux trailer Thanksgiving he cooked up for the Grindhouse double feature? It took a whopping 16 years for a full-length Thanksgiving film to hit theaters in 2023! And now, even though the sequel, Thanksgiving 2, faced a filming delay, Roth hasn't wasted any time. He's already wrapped production on Ice Cream Man, a film that promises to be a fresh take on summer terror.
Ice Cream Man wrapped filming this past September, and the cast list is a real treat for horror enthusiasts. Leading the charge is Ari Millen (Orphan Black) as the titular character, alongside a stellar ensemble including Benjamin Byron Davis (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Karen Cliche (Thanksgiving), and more.
The plot? Well, that's being kept under wraps, but the premise is deliciously dark: an idyllic summer town spirals into madness when an ice cream man starts serving up more than just sweet treats. Roth, along with Noah Belson, penned the screenplay based on an idea Roth has been harboring for over 20 years!
Financing for Ice Cream Man is being handled by Media Capital Technologies (MCT) and The Horror Section. The film is produced by Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh alongside Kate Harrison of Cream Productions. The special effects are in the capable hands of Steve Newburn and Adrien Morot, and the score is composed by Brandon Roberts, with additional music by Snoop Dogg.
Roth himself shared his excitement: “I couldn’t be more excited about the incredible cast we’ve assembled for Ice Cream Man. It’s surreal to see the idea I’ve had for over twenty years come to life – and with this insanely talented cast, we get to deliver a film to horror fans that’s as terrifying as I’ve always imagined.” The film is slated for a wide theatrical release in 2026.
But here's where it gets controversial... Roth's vision for Ice Cream Man has been brewing for two decades, but he claims studios were initially hesitant to finance it.
