Becker’s ambition is clear: “My goal is to be an INDYCAR winner, just like the drivers at Chip Ganassi Racing,” he said. “I’m thankful to be part of one of the best teams in the world and want to learn as much as I can, both on and off the track.”
CGR’s driver development program, announced in late 2024, is no ordinary initiative. Becker will have access to state-of-the-art facilities in Indianapolis, physical and mental training, media coaching, technical education, simulator training, business development, and even attendance at select NTT INDYCAR SERIES events. Shifting gears, Santino Ferrucci, driver for AJ Foyt Racing, is set to return to midget racing at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from January 11-16. Ferrucci’s 2025 Chili Bowl run was nothing short of dramatic—a heavy crash into the catch fence during preliminary races left his car in pieces, but the team rallied to fix it. He advanced through four feature races before being eliminated in the H Feature due to an on-track incident.
“Last year was a wild ride,” Ferrucci admitted. “I thought it was over before it started, but the team, with help from the paddock, got the car back together, and we salvaged a pretty good night.”
Ferrucci will prepare for the indoor race by competing in the 100-lap USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship event on November 15 in Placerville, California. “I’m excited to get more laps in so I can be better prepared for Tulsa,” he said. “You’re competing against the best, and what I need most is seat time.”
Celebrating legends, the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame recently announced its Class of 2025, inducting former INDYCAR SERIES driver Robert Wickens and longtime team engineer Michael Cannon. Wickens, who joined INDYCAR in 2018 after a distinguished European career, earned Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year honors before a serious accident at Pocono Raceway in 2018. Through extensive rehabilitation, he’s continued his career in touring and sports cars, earning global respect for his resilience.
Cannon, known for his car setups that find speed during the Month of May in Indianapolis, has worked with numerous INDYCAR teams. The Class of 2025 will be inducted on February 21 in Toronto.
Finally, racing fans have a new reason to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. Opening on November 22, the “Now Stay Tuned” exhibit explores how broadcasting transformed the Indianapolis 500 into a global phenomenon. Located on the museum’s lower level, the exhibit features legendary voices from the IMS Radio Network, ABC’s “Wide World of Sports,” and FOX Sports, including Sid Collins, Paul Page, Jim McKay, and Bob Jenkins.
Visitors can even step into a broadcast booth and record their own race call from pre-selected years. The exhibit, which runs through June 2026, pays homage to Collins’ iconic phrase, “Now stay tuned for ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,’” originally penned by Alice Greene in 1955.
