'Buds' was previously scheduled for a March 2027 release, but the studio has now shifted its release date to December 22, 2027, the same day as a Universal event title. This move puts 'Buds' in direct competition with Disney/Marvel Studios' 'Avengers: Secret Wars' and New Line's 'Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum', both of which are set to open on December 17. While Sony Pictures Animation has not revealed many details about 'Buds', it is known to be an original comedy.
